Manchester United Bid for Baleba Amid Midfield Rebuild

Manchester United’s midfield overhaul is accelerating. The club have lodged a £60m bid for Brighton’s Carlos Baleba and are closing in on what would be their third central midfield signing of the summer.

United have tracked the Cameroon international for more than a year, first moving for him last summer when Brighton slapped a price tag in excess of £100m on the then-rising star. A difficult season has altered the landscape. Now, with Brighton ready to cash in and United prepared to raise their offer by a further £5m if needed, Old Trafford finally looks like Baleba’s next stop.

The deal would underline United’s determination to reshape the heart of their team, with Baleba earmarked as a long-term piece rather than a short-term patch.

Liverpool open door to Curtis Jones exit

On Merseyside, Liverpool are braced for a significant midfield departure of their own. Talks are under way with Inter Milan over Curtis Jones, with the Italian champions pushing again to prise the 23-year-old away from Anfield.

No agreement is in place yet, but discussions are active and progressing. Liverpool are understood to be open to a sale in the region of €35m (£30m), a fee that would tempt them to let Jones swap Anfield for San Siro.

While those negotiations rumble on, Liverpool’s recruitment team remain busy. The club are still interested in Bradley Barcola after stepping back from a move for his PSG team‑mate Ibrahim Mbaye, keeping their attacking options under review as the window develops.

Arsenal strike £51m deal for Ezri Konsa

In north London, Arsenal have moved decisively. The club have agreed a deal worth around £51m with Aston Villa for Ezri Konsa as Mikel Arteta reinforces a defence that has been stretched and reshuffled too often for his liking.

William Saliba’s serious injury and the careful management of Jurrien Timber’s return sharpened the need for another right-sided defender. Konsa fits the profile: Premier League proven, comfortable on the ball, and capable of stepping into a high line without blinking.

The 28-year-old is expected to compete with Cristhian Mosquera as the primary deputy for Saliba alongside Gabriel Magalhaes. If everything is signed off in time, Konsa could face his former club immediately, with the fixture against Aston Villa next week looming as a swift reunion and an early test of Arteta’s defensive rethink.

Tottenham eye Marmoush and Savinho in attacking shake-up

Across the capital, Tottenham are plotting their next move in the market and it could be an ambitious double swoop. Spurs remain keen on Savinho, a long-term target who was valued at around £50m last summer when they first weighed up a bid for the Brazilian winger.

Now Omar Marmoush has joined him on their list. Tottenham are exploring a move for the forward as Roberto De Zerbi pushes for more firepower and a deeper, more flexible attack after a season in which his side only just escaped relegation.

Two signings from Manchester City, a revamped forward line, and a manager determined to drag the club upwards again: Tottenham’s window is gathering pace. The question now is how far they are prepared to go to turn intent into a frontline that can genuinely change their season.
