Charlton Athletic Signs Leah Davidson from Melbourne City

Charlton Athletic have moved to strengthen the heart of their midfield with the signing of Australia international Leah Davidson from A-League Women's side Melbourne City on a two-year deal.

At 25, Davidson arrives with the kind of pedigree that instantly sharpens a dressing room. Six seasons in Australia. Three league titles on the spin. More than 100 appearances for one of the A-League’s standard-bearers since joining from Brisbane Roar in 2020. This is not a prospect. This is a player used to winning.

Her consistency in Australia earned her four caps for the national team, a marker of the level Charlton are buying into as they build for the new campaign.

The move also continues a busy week in south-east London. Davidson becomes Charlton’s second arrival in quick succession after the capture of goalkeeper Anna Koivunen from Djurgardens IF, a double signing that speaks to a clear plan to add experience and steel through the spine of the side.

"I am so excited to be here and be a part of something so special," she said, reflecting on the decision to leave Melbourne City after a long, decorated spell. "I spent six years at Melbourne City. I loved it, grew as a player and a person, but I thought: 'I can't say no to this opportunity.'
