Deniz Undav Signs New VfB Stuttgart Contract Until 2029

Deniz Undav has committed his long-term future to VfB Stuttgart, signing a new contract that runs until 2029 and includes an option for a further year – a statement deal for both player and club at the peak of his powers.

The 29-year-old Germany international has grown into the heartbeat of Sebastian Hoeneß's attack since arriving from Brighton and Hove Albion on an initial loan in the summer of 2023. What started as an opportunity has turned into a full-scale transformation – for Undav, for Stuttgart, and for the way the club now sees its own ambitions.

Across 86 Bundesliga appearances in Stuttgart colours, Undav has delivered the numbers of an elite striker: 46 goals and 18 assists. Those figures don’t just decorate a stat sheet; they tell the story of a forward who has become one of the most feared finishers in the division, a player whose movement, timing and composure have repeatedly dragged VfB into winning positions.

Little wonder, then, that the emotion around the deal is running high.

"I'm over the moon to be continuing my career in Stuttgart," Undav said after putting pen to paper. “This contract extension means so much to me. The club and the city have become my second home over the past three years – right from day one, everyone welcomed me and my family with open arms and a lot of love. I'm really looking forward to spending many more years as part of the VfB family and enjoying lots more success."

Those “many more years” come at a time when Stuttgart are no longer just fighting for stability. They are back among Germany’s heavyweights. Runners-up in the Bundesliga, DFB Cup winners, and recently back in the Champions League – this is a club that has re-entered the European conversation, and Undav has been central to that rise.

Fabian Wohlgemuth, VfB’s board member for sport, did not hide his satisfaction.

"Signing Deniz for another three years is an absolute winner, both for us as a club and for Deniz himself," he said. "In his time in Stuttgart, Deniz has become a Germany international with a World Cup around the corner. VfB finishing runners-up in the league, winning the DFB Cup and just recently qualifying for the Champions League once again has a lot to do with him as well."

The arc of Undav’s story is striking. From a loan arrival fighting for a place, to a locked-in leader of the line and a full Germany international heading to the global stage.

Named in Julian Nagelsmann's 26-man squad for the FIFA World Cup 2026 in Canada, Mexico and the USA, Undav now stands at the crossroads of club glory and international opportunity. Stuttgart have their man for the long haul. Germany have a striker in form.

The next three years will show just how far that combination can go.
