Diomande Transfer Saga Heats Up as Leipzig Demand High Price

The chase for Yan Diomande has moved from background noise to full-blown transfer saga. And RB Leipzig are making one thing very clear: if you want their star forward, you’ll have to pay a superstar fee.

Manchester City, Real Madrid, Liverpool, Paris Saint-Germain – the list of suitors reads like a Champions League semi-final draw. Yet Leipzig, third in the Bundesliga last season, are standing firm. For now.

City Step Forward – And Hit a Wall

According to Sky, Manchester City have made their first concrete move. No written bid yet, but a verbal signal: they are ready to go to 100 million euros, including bonuses, for the 19-year-old.

For Leipzig, that number barely moves the needle.

From the German club’s point of view, the runners-up in England are still short of the mark. The message is blunt: 100 million euros does not buy Yan Diomande.

Real Madrid Join the Fight

City are not alone at the door.

The Athletic reports that Real Madrid have already contacted Leipzig and spoken directly with the decision-makers about Diomande. The European giants are described as actively working to bring him to the Bernabeu.

Sky go a step further, reporting that Madrid have already tabled a first official offer: a base fee of 90 million euros plus 10 million in bonuses – again, a total package of 100 million.

Leipzig’s response? A polite but firm rejection.

The equation in Madrid could change quickly. If Brahim Diaz leaves the club, the search for a high-end attacking replacement will intensify. Diomande fits that profile perfectly: young, explosive, already delivering at the top level.

If Brahim goes, the pressure on Real to push harder for Diomande only grows.

Liverpool Turned Away, PSG No Longer Alone

Leipzig’s stance is not new. The German side are said to have already turned down an offer from Liverpool worth around 100 million euros in total, mirroring the numbers now in play for Real and City.

That refusal underlines the scale of the task facing any club trying to prise Diomande away this summer.

Anyone serious about signing him will probably have to get close to 130 million euros. That is the unofficial entry fee to the race.

For a long time, PSG were seen as the favourites. The Champions League winners hold major interest in the Ivory Coast international and had been widely viewed as the leading candidates for his signature.

Even they, though, have not yet been willing to cross the 130 million threshold. And now, with Real Madrid circling and Manchester City edging forward, the Parisian advantage is slipping.

If Madrid genuinely decide to escalate and keep bidding, the entire battle for Diomande could tilt in an instant.

Leipzig’s Jewel – And Their Dilemma

Leipzig’s resistance is not just about money. It is about timing.

They signed Diomande only last summer, paying 20 million euros to CD Leganes. Within a year, that outlay looks like one of the bargains of recent windows.

The forward exploded in his first Bundesliga season. Across all competitions, he produced 15 goals and 11 assists in 46 appearances – serious numbers for a teenager adapting to a new league and a new level.

On the international stage, his rise continued. At the World Cup, Diomande became a regular starter for Ivory Coast, registering one assist in four games. The Ivorians went out in the round of 32, edged 2-1 by Norway and Erling Haaland, but Diomande’s status as a key figure was underlined.

Leipzig do not want to lose that kind of player after just one year.

He is under contract until 2030, giving the club enormous leverage. The plan in Saxony is clear: offer him a new deal on improved terms and strengthen their hand even further in any future negotiations.

Keep him now, raise his salary, and either build the team around him – or, if the market goes wild, sell on their own terms.

A Tug-of-War With No Cheap Winner

So the picture is stark.

Manchester City are interested and have verbally floated 100 million euros. Real Madrid have already tested Leipzig’s resolve with an offer up to that same figure and been rebuffed. Liverpool have been knocked back at similar numbers. PSG still like him, but have yet to push to the level Leipzig are effectively demanding.

Diomande, just 19, sits at the centre of a tug-of-war between Europe’s heaviest hitters, tied to a long contract at a club with no need – and no desire – to sell.
