Dominik Szoboszlai Signs Long-Term Contract with Liverpool

Dominik Szoboszlai has tied his future to Liverpool, signing a new long-term contract that is expected to keep him at Anfield until the end of the 2030/31 season.

The Reds’ No 8, already one of the central pillars of the current side, has been rewarded after three years of steady ascent on Merseyside since arriving from RB Leipzig. The club have not disclosed the exact length of the agreement, but it is widely reported to be a five-year extension.

For Szoboszlai, it marks a defining moment in a career already packed with milestones.

“It’s maybe my biggest day,” the 25-year-old said, placing the new deal alongside the day he first signed for Liverpool and the birth of his child. “Very happy. [I] can’t wait to go again and again and again. I’m just happy to be here, as I said many times.”

Those words carry weight. Liverpool’s 2025/26 campaign fell well short of the standards the club has set in recent years, yet Szoboszlai emerged from the disappointment as one of the few undisputed successes.

He drove the team from midfield, shouldering responsibility when form dipped around him. Across 53 games in all competitions, the Hungary international produced 13 goals and 12 assists, numbers that underline both his creativity and his eye for goal. The club’s supporters and staff recognised that influence as he was named Liverpool’s Men’s Player of the Year.

This new contract is the club’s answer.

Liverpool are locking in a player entering his peak years, one already trusted with the iconic No 8 shirt and the expectations that come with it. Szoboszlai, in turn, is nailing his colours to the mast at a club still intent on building its next great side.

He has made Anfield his stage. Now he has the time and the platform to shape what comes next.
