Estadio BBVA Monterrey: Your Guide to World Cup 2026 Matches and Tickets
Known as El Gigante de Acero (The Steel Giant), Estadio BBVA stands as one of three Mexican stadiums hosting the 2026 FIFA World Cup. Alongside the historic Estadio Azteca and Estadio Akron, this modern arena belongs to CF Monterrey and promises an exciting chapter during the tournament.
The stadium has a history of hosting matches for Monterrey and the Mexican national team. For the 2026 World Cup, it will host four matches, including group stage games and a Round of 32 fixture.
Matches Scheduled at Estadio BBVA
These include three group stage matches and one knockout round game.
How to Secure Tickets for Matches at Estadio BBVA
The primary ticket lotteries, such as the Visa Presale and Early Ticket Draw, have wrapped up after processing more than 500 million requests, so ticket availability is now very limited.
The Last-Minute Sales Phase began on April 1. This phase operates on a first-come, first-served basis without a lottery system, offering the last chance to buy official tickets directly from FIFA with immediate confirmation.
Fans can also visit the Official FIFA Resale Marketplace, which serves as the authorized platform to buy and sell verified tickets at regulated prices as the event draws near.
Alternatively, secondary platforms like StubHub provide last-minute options, but it's wise to review their terms and conditions carefully before purchasing.
About Estadio BBVA
Opening in 2015, Estadio BBVA replaced the old Estadio Tecnológico as CF Monterrey's home. Its debut match saw Monterrey triumph over Benfica 3–0 in a friendly. The stadium showcases impressive architecture and world-class amenities.
Besides club matches, the venue has hosted Copa MX finals, CONCACAF Champions League finals, and games involving the Mexican national team. It regularly welcomes major cultural events too, with concerts from artists like Coldplay, The Weeknd, and Shakira.
Getting to Estadio BBVA
Public Transport: The stadium is accessible via Metrorrey Line 1, stopping at Exposición Station, about a 10-minute walk away. Bus routes 214, 223, TME, and 093 also drop nearby at the Pablo Livas stop.
By Car: Avenida Constitucion (Highway 85D) and Carretera Miguel Aleman (Highway 54D) lead toward the stadium. Clear signs direct drivers to exits at Avenida Pablo Livas or La Pastora on event days.
Stadium Tours and Nearby Dining
Though currently closed for renovations, Estadio BBVA typically offers tours that let visitors explore the field, locker rooms, press box, and other unique spots. These tours close six hours before any match.
Food options abound both inside and near the stadium. Vendors offer snacks and drinks during events, while nearby neighborhoods like Coapa and San Lorenzo Huipulco feature traditional Mexican eateries and taco stands.
For sit-down meals, places such as Restaurante Parque Asturias, Cachito de Cuba, and Lucrecia Coyoacan are popular among groups looking for a relaxed dining experience.
