Fenerbahce Dismisses Jamie Gittens Transfer Rumors

Fenerbahce have moved sharply to crush talk of a move for Chelsea winger Jamie Gittens, issuing a stinging statement to brand the transfer rumours “completely unfounded”.

Reports had suggested the Turkish giants were lining up a summer swoop for the 22-year-old, barely a year after his big-money arrival in the Premier League. The noise gathered pace on social media, fuelled by Gittens’ difficult first season at Stamford Bridge and questions over his long‑term role in west London.

Fenerbahce, though, were having none of it.

The club released a strongly worded statement on Saturday, directly addressing claims they were pushing to sign the England winger from Chelsea.

“Reports circulating in some media outlets today regarding our club's interest in Chelsea FC player Jamie Gittens are completely unfounded and do not reflect the truth,” the statement read.

They went further, accusing unnamed parties of trying to drag the club into manufactured transfer sagas.

“We once again clearly state that attempts to manipulate Fenerbahçe Sports Club through false transfer claims and artificially created agendas will have no effect.

“Fenerbahçe conducts its sporting structure, transfer policy, and future planning in all branches, especially football, in accordance with its own strategy, needs, and established programs.

“Therefore, we expect this approach of using our club's name to create public opinion and steer Fenerbahçe towards certain directions to cease.”

The club underlined that their attention is locked on the pitch, not the rumour mill.

“Our sole focus right now is our match against Gençlerbirliği in the first week of the Trendyol Super League.

“We respectfully request that our great Fenerbahçe fans disregard such unfounded news and continue their support for our teams only by considering the statements made through our club's official channels.”

One emphatic statement. One transfer link shut down.

Gittens’ Chelsea struggle

For Gittens, the speculation had arrived at the end of a bruising debut campaign in England.

Signed from Borussia Dortmund for a total fee of £51.5million, the winger walked into Chelsea with expectation heavy on his shoulders. The numbers from his first season tell a mixed story.

He made 27 appearances in all competitions, scoring just one goal and registering five assists. Not disastrous, but nowhere near the explosive impact many at Stamford Bridge had hoped for.
