Ferran Torres Set for PSG Move as Barcelona Negotiates

Ferran Torres is moving closer to the Camp Nou exit door, and this time it feels real.

According to Florian Plettenberg of Sky Deutschland, the Barcelona forward has reached a personal agreement with Paris Saint-Germain, a development that has been quietly brewing for several days. PSG and Barcelona are now in direct talks over a deal that could reshape the attacking options of both clubs.

This is not a move out of the blue. Last week, transfer specialist Matteo Moretto reported that Torres was open to joining the French champions, and there has been little sign of resistance from Barcelona. The Catalan club are not fighting to keep him at all costs, a telling detail in a market where every public stance is usually calculated.

PSG’s interest has been simmering for some time. Negotiations over a new Barcelona contract for Torres — currently running until mid-2027 — have reportedly stalled completely. By mid-July, Sky Italia were already reporting that the French side were keen to sit down with Barcelona and explore a deal.

Now the talks have started, the logic is clear on both sides.

Barcelona see an opportunity to cash in on a player whose profile has risen sharply. Torres’ extra-time winner for Spain in the World Cup final against Argentina, sealing a 1-0 victory, has pushed him into a different bracket of visibility and value. Even with just one year left on his deal, that decisive moment on the biggest stage gives Barça leverage they did not have a year ago.

For PSG, the need is obvious. Their attack has been stripped back in recent weeks. Gonçalo Ramos has joined AC Milan, Lee Kang-in has left for Atlético Madrid, and Bradley Barcola looks almost certain to follow them out of Paris. Questions still hang over Ibrahim Mbaye’s future. The squad that once overflowed with forwards suddenly has gaps.

So PSG have turned to versatility and pedigree. Torres offers both. He can play across the front line, he is in his prime at 26, and he has already shown he can deliver under suffocating pressure. For a club trying to rebuild its identity in attack, those qualities matter.

The Parisian rebuild does not stop with Torres. The French champions are also pushing hard for Ajax winger Mika Godts. The left-sided attacker has agreed personal terms and is open to the move, leaving PSG to find an agreement with Ajax. If both deals are completed, Luis Enrique would walk into the new season with a very different set of tools in wide areas.

For now, the spotlight stays on Barcelona and PSG, locked in negotiations over a World Cup winner whose next step could tilt the balance of power in two dressing rooms.
