This is not a casual enquiry. Inter’s interest in the Liverpool midfielder has been alive for around eight months, driven above all by Cristian Chivu. The Inter coach has made it clear inside the club: Jones is his man.

Inter already have players who can perform similar roles, but the staff view Jones as a different profile, someone who can tilt games rather than simply manage them.
