Josh Yaro Joins AC Boise on Loan for 2026 Season
St. Louis CITY SC defender Josh Yaro has joined USL League One side Athletic Club Boise on loan for the remainder of the 2026 season, drawing a line under a significant early chapter in the club’s short history.
The 31-year-old has been woven into the fabric of St. Louis CITY SC since 2022. He arrived before the first team kicked a ball in MLS, anchoring the back line for CITY2 and helping guide the side to the inaugural MLS NEXT Pro Western Conference title. When the senior team launched in 2023, Yaro made the step up, carrying with him the credibility of someone who had already helped set the club’s competitive standards.
This move is about minutes and rhythm. A veteran center-back who has often been the reliable option in reserve now gets the chance to be a constant presence in a starting XI, rather than a break-glass solution when injuries or suspensions hit.
“Josh has been with the club from the beginning and has always been a great teammate, stepping up whenever needed both on and off the pitch,” said Sporting Director Corey Wray. “He has embraced the city and consistently made an impact through numerous community initiatives, which speaks to the person he is. We are excited that he now has an opportunity to get consistent minutes in a competitive team and wish him and AC Boise the best for the remainder of the season.”
That quote underlines the wider story. Yaro hasn’t just been a squad player; he has been a culture carrier. From the early CITY2 days to the bright lights of MLS, he helped bridge the gap between the developmental side and the first team, while also throwing himself into community work around St. Louis.
Now comes a different responsibility. At AC Boise, he will be expected to bring that same professionalism into a new locker room, to organize a back line, and to show exactly why St. Louis trusted him during their formative years. For a player who has lived through the birth of an MLS club and helped it find its feet, this loan offers something simple but crucial: the chance to play, every week, with the season on the line.
