Juventus Sign Guglielmo Vicario on Loan
Juventus have their new No. 1 in waiting.
The club confirmed on Tuesday that Italian goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario has joined from Tottenham, arriving in Turin on a loan deal running until 30 June 2027, a long-term bet on a player entering his prime years.
The move gives Juventus an experienced, battle-tested presence between the posts. Born in 1996, Vicario came through the Udinese academy before working his way up the hard way with spells at Venezia, Perugia, Cagliari and Empoli. It was at Empoli that he truly broke through, amassing 69 Serie A appearances and building a reputation as one of the league’s most reliable shot-stoppers.
Tottenham moved for him in 2023. Vicario quickly established himself in London, going on to make 117 appearances for the Premier League side and helping them lift the Europa League in the 2024/25 season. Now, after two intense years in England, he returns to Italy with a European trophy and plenty of big-match experience.
French outlet Foot Mercato reported that Juventus have secured the 29-year-old on loan with an option to buy set at around 10 million euros including bonuses, a figure that underlines both opportunity and calculated risk for the Italian giants.
The deal did not come at the end of a straightforward search. Juventus were heavily linked with Argentina’s Emiliano Martinez and Japanese goalkeeper Zion Suzuki before turning decisively to Vicario. The Italian may not have been the first name on their list, but he now has the chance to become the definitive answer.
A new chapter in Turin awaits, and with it the question that will define his stay: can Vicario turn a pragmatic move into a long-term Juventus era?
