Liverpool's Pursuit of Endrick: Real Madrid's Firm Stance
Liverpool have tested Real Madrid’s resolve over Endrick as their attacking rebuild gathers pace – and received a blunt answer.
Liverpool hunt wide men… and more
The plan at Anfield is clear: two new wingers before the window shuts. Bradley Barcola remains the headline target. Liverpool have had personal terms in place with the PSG talent for some time and see him as a key piece of their new-look frontline.
For weeks it looked like Barcola’s team‑mate Ibrahim Mbaye would be the second wide addition. He too has agreed personal terms with Liverpool, but the deal has stalled where it matters most – the fee.
PSG’s €70m valuation has put the brakes on. Liverpool, under FSG’s guidance, are not prepared to go beyond €50m, a gap sizeable enough to force a rethink and push the club towards a different profile.
That change of course has led them to Brighton and to Yankuba Minteh.
Liverpool have already lodged two offers for the winger, the latest worth around £60m. Brighton have held their ground so far, yet with Minteh having agreed personal terms with the Reds, sources expect a third bid – likely in the £65m–£70m range – could finally move the dial and secure a deal.
But the recruitment drive does not stop out wide.
The Endrick call
While the focus has been on wingers, Liverpool have also been exploring options through the middle. Alexander Isak currently stands as Andoni Iraola’s only fit senior striker, with Hugo Ekitike sidelined by a ruptured Achilles until roughly the turn of the year.
That shortage has sharpened Liverpool’s interest in central attacking solutions, and it has taken them to one of the most talked‑about young forwards in Europe.
Speaking on his YouTube channel, Fabrizio Romano revealed that Liverpool contacted Real Madrid to ask about a move for Brazilian striker Endrick.
The approach was not unique. Romano detailed how Roma and AC Milan had already spoken with the player’s camp in recent days to gauge whether a loan could be on the table. Aston Villa also made an enquiry two weeks ago.
Every time, the response from Madrid was the same: no chance.
Liverpool’s call pushed the boundaries further. They explored both a loan with a buy option and a permanent transfer built around a sizeable proposal. The idea was to test whether there was any opening at all to take Endrick, even temporarily.
Real Madrid shut the door.
Romano made it clear the stance comes from the very top. President Florentino Perez and head coach Jose Mourinho have decided Endrick will stay. They want him in the squad, wearing the number nine shirt, and fighting for his place at the Bernabeu.
As of now, there are “no doors open” for a move. Liverpool’s interest has been noted, but Madrid’s position is firm: Endrick is not leaving.
January watch
Could that change? Possibly – but not before the winter.
Romano stressed that Real Madrid do not plan to sanction any exit “as of today”. The club want to see Endrick compete for minutes and establish himself over the first half of the season.
Only if he is still on the fringes by late December, around Christmas, might the conversation reopen. At that point, Madrid would not rule out another loan similar to his spell at Lyon last season.
Until then, Liverpool’s pursuit of attacking firepower will have to be satisfied elsewhere. Endrick stays in Madrid, with the number nine on his back and a clear message from his club: earn it here, or wait until January to see who comes calling again.
