Manchester United’s pre-season is starting to feel serious.

Now, PSG expect reinforcements. Marquinhos, Nuno Mendes, Joao Neves and Vitinha have resumed training and could feature in Gothenburg, bolstering both the spine and the flanks. The balance of the side changes immediately when that calibre of player is available.

Not everyone is ready. Achraf Hakimi remains a doubt, his absence a significant one given how much thrust he provides down the right. Bradley Barcola, Desire Doue and Ousmane Dembele are edging closer after their World Cup exertions, but they are still on the comeback trail rather than guaranteed starters.
