Real Madrid's Summer Rebuild: Endrick's Future in Jeopardy

Real Madrid’s summer rebuild under Jose Mourinho has found its cutting edge – and its first major casualty.

In the space of a week, the club have tied up deals for striker Carlos Espi from Levante and winger Yan Diomande from RB Leipzig, moves that effectively lock in Mourinho’s attacking options for the 2026-27 season. The message from Valdebebas is clear: the forward line is stocked, the hierarchy is set, and there may be room for only one more door to close before the transfer window does.

That door could swing shut on Endrick’s immediate future in Madrid.

The Brazilian returns from a standout loan spell at Lyon, where his performances from January to May sharply raised his profile and suggested he was ready to fight for a place at the Bernabeu. Instead, he now stares at a depth chart that has hardened against him. Espi can operate through the middle, Diomande stretches the flanks, and both have been brought in to occupy the very spaces Endrick hoped to make his own.

For a 20-year-old forward on the rise, the timing could hardly be worse.

Madrid know it. Mourinho knows it. And crucially, they are not prepared to let him sit and wait for scraps. The club accept that Endrick is unlikely to feature regularly in Mourinho’s first season back in charge and are prepared to sanction another move away to protect his development.

That has opened the door to a new race.

Real Sociedad have already shown interest, sensing an opportunity to add a dynamic attacker on a temporary basis. A spell in San Sebastian would keep him in La Liga, in a possession-based side that often leans on young talent. But the pull of England is growing louder.

According to Ramon Alvarez de Mon, Real Madrid are working on a deal that would send Endrick on loan to the Premier League. The destination is not yet final, but the profile of the league is obvious: intensity, exposure, and a different kind of education for a forward who thrives in open spaces and quick transitions.

Fulham sit prominently among the possible landing spots. The London club could hold a natural advantage thanks to the Alvaro Arbeloa connection, a relationship that could help smooth negotiations and integration. On paper, they look an ideal platform: competitive, ambitious, and increasingly comfortable trusting younger players.

There is, however, a footballing question to answer. Fulham have already moved in the market, bringing in attacker Gonzalo Garcia earlier this week, alongside midfielder Cesar Palacios. Another forward would crowd their own attacking structure, just as Espi and Diomande have done in Madrid. Any loan for Endrick would need guarantees of opportunity, not just a change of scenery.

That tension sits at the heart of the decision now facing all parties. Real Madrid want minutes for him. The player needs a stage. Interested clubs must be sure they can offer more than a seat on the bench.

What is not in doubt is the direction of travel. With Espi and Diomande through the door and Mourinho’s first-choice attack taking shape, an Endrick departure over the coming weeks looks increasingly likely. The logic is brutal but simple: staying to watch from the sidelines helps nobody.

The next move will define his season. The question is whether it also starts to define his long-term future away from the Bernabeu.
