Romelu Lukaku's Transfer Saga: Fenerbahce Interest Resurfaces

Romelu Lukaku’s future has swung back toward Istanbul once more.

The Belgian striker, now 33 and entering the final year of his deal with Napoli, has again been offered to Fenerbahce, according to reports in Turkey on Friday. Saudi Arabian clubs are also circling, adding another layer to a transfer saga that refuses to settle.

Lukaku is coming off a disappointing 2025–26 campaign on a personal level and is not expected to be Massimiliano Allegri’s first-choice centre-forward when the new season kicks off. That reality has sharpened the focus on his next move. Napoli, for their part, are ready to deal: reports in Italy indicate the club would accept offers of no more than €10 million for the veteran forward.

The exit, though, is still only on paper. Lukaku remains a Napoli player, his departure from the Diego Maradona stadium talked about more than it is acted upon.

In recent days, the all-time top scorer in Belgium’s history has been linked with a switch to MLS side Atlanta United, a move that would mark a major change of scenery and tempo. Now the Turkish option has resurfaced with force.

Doruk Tigemer, correspondent for the “TRT Spor” network, reports that Lukaku has again been offered to Fenerbahce. This is not a fresh idea in the corridors of the Istanbul giant. His name was first floated during the winter transfer window, then revived about a month ago, as the club weighed up options to bolster its attack.

For now, it is all proposals and positioning. No official negotiations have taken place between Fenerbahce and Napoli, nor between the Turkish club and the player’s representatives.

The striker is on the market. The price is clear. The offers, though, still need to move from suggestion to signature.
