A black, one-of-one Kaboom rookie from Panini’s 2023-24 Donruss FIFA collection became the headline lot and the story of the sale. When the final hammer price landed at a staggering $707,600, it set a new benchmark: the highest publicly recorded price ever paid for a Yamal trading card.

The one-of-one black parallel, already coveted for its extreme scarcity, has now taken on a different weight. It is no longer just a rare rookie; it is the card that outgunned the greats. In the same auction, a graded 1958 Pele rookie card reached a powerful $610,000, while a unique Lionel Messi piece from the 2023-24 Topps Chrome Sapphire collection brought in $317,200.

On any other night, those two would have stolen the show. Not this time.

Yamal’s Kaboom cleared the Pele lot by nearly $100,000 and left the one-of-one Messi card trailing by a huge $390,400. The gap is as symbolic as it is financial, underlining how feverish the demand has become for the teenager who has already climbed to the top of the international game.

The pressure on prices did not stop at that single card. Collectors chased more fragments of Yamal’s early story.

• A gold Kaboom rookie, numbered 8/10, drew heavy bidding before closing at $189,100 – a substantial figure for a card that, in any other context, would be the jewel of a sale.
• Then came the match-worn element, the physical proof of a rising star’s impact on the pitch: an inscribed Barcelona home shirt worn during the 2023-24 Champions League campaign. That shirt alone added another $152,500.

Put together, those three items – black Kaboom one-of-one, gold Kaboom /10, and the Champions League shirt – generated an extraordinary $1,049,200.

For an emerging World Cup winner still in his teens, those numbers say as much about the future as they do about the present. In a room where Pele and Messi have long defined the ceiling, Yamal’s name now sits on top of the price list. The market has made its call: the next era has already arrived, and collectors are paying to be part of it.
