2026 World Cup: Live Bracket Updates, Group Standings, and Round of 32 Matchups

The 2026 World Cup features a new expanded format with 48 teams divided into 12 groups of four. The top two teams from each group automatically move on to the Round of 32, joined by the eight best third-place teams. This setup creates a complex mix of outcomes as the final group games wrap up.

Figuring out which third-place teams will advance and where they fit in the bracket can be confusing, but we have the latest results and scenarios laid out clearly here.

Group A Summary

Mexico has secured first place in Group A after winning all their matches. South Africa qualified as runners-up following their victory over South Korea. South Korea still has a shot at advancing as one of the best third-place teams, while Czechia was eliminated after losing 3-0 to Mexico.

Group B Overview

Switzerland topped the group after a 3-1 win over Canada. Canada settled for second place and will face South Africa on June 28 in Los Angeles. Bosnia and Herzegovina, boosted by their first World Cup win since 2014, looks likely to advance as a top third-place team. Qatar, despite hosting last time, is already out.
