Teams Moving Into the 2026 World Cup Quarterfinals

The lineup for the quarterfinals of the 2026 World Cup is starting to take shape. England secured their spot after a tense round of 16 clash against Mexico at Estadio Azteca on July 5.

Norway also advanced for the first time in history, defeating Brazil with key contributions from Erling Haaland’s two goals and goalkeeper Ørjan Nyland’s outstanding saves.

The USMNT aims to reach the quarterfinals for the first time since 2002 when they face Belgium on July 6 in Seattle. Mauricio Pochettino will have his star forward Folarin Balogun available after FIFA overturned his red card suspension from the previous round.

  • France – edged Paraguay 1-0 in Philadelphia on July 4, with Kylian Mbappe scoring his 19th World Cup goal
  • Norway – overcame Brazil in the round of 16
