Alisson Fined £8,000 for Outburst at Anfield

Alisson has been hit with an £8,000 fine for kicking the fourth official’s electronic board in the aftermath of Liverpool’s 2-2 draw with Nottingham Forest at Anfield.

The Liverpool goalkeeper lashed out at the equipment as he headed towards the tunnel at full-time on Saturday, frustration boiling over at the end of a chaotic contest against Oliver Glasner’s side.

His anger had plenty of fuel.

Alisson, 33, had conceded a second-half penalty when he raced off his line and collided with Neco Williams, allowing Morgan Gibbs-White to put Forest 2-1 ahead from the spot. On Wednesday, the Key Match Incidents panel released its findings and ruled the penalty should not have been awarded.

Tension had already been simmering. The fourth official’s board malfunctioned during the game, leaving Liverpool unable to make substitutions while the score was 1-1, despite the ball going out of play three times. As the delay dragged on, Forest seized their moment: Liam Delap took a quick throw-in to Williams, who burst into the box and went down under Alisson’s challenge. The referee pointed to the spot. Controversy followed.

By the time the final whistle went, Liverpool had clawed their way back to 2-2 but the sense of grievance lingered. As Alisson walked off, the pressure finally snapped and he drove his boot into the board used to show added time and substitutions.

The Football Association later charged him with misconduct over his behaviour near the tunnel area. An FA spokesperson confirmed that Alisson accepted the charge, admitting he had “acted in an improper manner around the tunnel area”.

No suspension follows, only the financial penalty – but the incident underlines just how thin the margins, and tempers, have become in Liverpool’s season.
