Alisson Signals Juventus Move as Liverpool Farewell Approaches
Alisson Becker has given Juventus the answer they wanted: yes.
According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, the Liverpool goalkeeper has signalled his clear willingness to move to Turin this summer, even as the Serie A giants stumble through one of their most troubled seasons in recent memory under Luciano Spalletti.
Juventus in trouble, but Alisson is not flinching
Juventus are clinging to the hope of Champions League football rather than striding towards it. A damaging defeat to Fiorentina has left the Bianconeri sixth in the table, staring at the prospect of missing out on Europe’s top competition.
They now need AC Milan, Roma and Como to falter in the final week of the season. It is a thin thread on which to hang a project of this size.
The financial hit would be brutal. Failure to qualify for the Champions League could cost up to €60 million in lost revenue, a figure that normally scares off elite targets. Alisson is not one of them.
Despite the uncertainty and the looming shortfall, the Brazilian is said to remain fully convinced by the Juventus project. His representatives have reiterated his strong desire to move to Turin regardless of where the club finishes. For a side that has looked short of conviction for two years, that kind of commitment from a potential leader matters.
A long goodbye at Anfield
Before Italy, there is one more scene to play out on Merseyside.
Alisson is preparing for what promises to be an emotional afternoon when Liverpool host Brentford on Sunday. Arne Slot is expected to start him, giving Anfield the chance to say goodbye to a goalkeeper who has defined an era.
Eight seasons. More than 300 appearances. A wall in goal and a symbol in the dressing room.
During his time at Liverpool, Alisson helped deliver two Premier League titles, an FA Cup, two Carabao Cups, a Club World Cup, a UEFA Super Cup and that unforgettable Champions League triumph. He became one of the pillars of Jürgen Klopp’s revolution and, even this season, has remained a key figure when fit.
But the landscape has shifted. Injuries have crept in, interrupting his rhythm. At the same time, Giorgi Mamardashvili’s rapid rise has turned what used to be a formality on the team sheet into a genuine contest. The security of an undisputed No 1 spot has eroded.
That internal pressure has not broken Alisson. It has pushed him towards a decision: to actively seek a permanent return to Serie A, to a league and a country he knows well from his Roma days.
Complex deal, clear intentions
Wanting out and getting out are two very different things at this level.
Alisson is tied to Liverpool until June 2027, a long and valuable contract that hands the Premier League club significant leverage. Juventus, already wrestling with the financial implications of a possible Champions League absence, must now find a way to satisfy Liverpool’s demands without derailing their broader rebuild.
The negotiations will require precision. But the tone, at least for now, is respectful. All parties, and especially Alisson himself, are said to be intent on ensuring a departure that reflects his status as one of Liverpool’s modern greats, not a messy divorce.
For Juventus, the need could hardly be more acute. They have lost their way over the last two seasons, drifting from the ruthless, authoritative side that once dominated Serie A. Leadership has thinned out. So has top-tier quality in decisive moments.
They see Alisson as a cornerstone, not a cosmetic signing. A seasoned international, a proven winner, a voice that can anchor a dressing room in transition. The fact he is ready to sacrifice top-tier European football, at least for a season, only deepens their belief that he is the right figure to front their reset.
Racing the World Cup clock
Time, though, is not on anyone’s side.
Alisson is set to join up with Brazil for the upcoming World Cup, and that tournament casts a long shadow over the transfer window. His agent is preparing to accelerate talks in the next three weeks, with a clear objective: to have the agreement with Juventus and Liverpool wrapped up before the first ball is kicked on the global stage.
Secure the move now, focus on Brazil later. That is the plan.
If Juventus can navigate the financial minefield and Liverpool can reconcile themselves with losing a legend, one of the defining goalkeepers of the Premier League era will be back in Serie A, wearing black and white instead of red.
The question is no longer whether Alisson wants the move. It is whether Juventus, under pressure and short of time, can prove they still have the clout and clarity to deliver it.
