Anthony Martial Set for Málaga CF Move: A Career Restart

Anthony Martial is closing in on a surprise move to Málaga CF, with the Spanish club reportedly on the verge of landing the free agent forward, according to Foot Mercato.

The 30-year-old, released after a short spell with CF Monterrey, has been searching for a fresh start to reignite a career that once lit up Old Trafford. Spain now looks set to be his next stage, with Málaga – currently 18th in La Liga and fighting to drag themselves clear of trouble – ready to offer him a central role in their survival bid.

Martial has already rejected two approaches from Ligue 1 clubs as he weighs up what he sees as the right project rather than the most familiar option. He could easily have taken a very different path.

Al-Ittihad Tripoli made an aggressive play to lure him outside Europe, shortly after securing Moroccan winger Sofiane Boufal. The Libyan side put an eye-watering package on the table: a net salary of 10 million euros over two years, plus a 5 million euro signing bonus.

For a player at 30, with major European experience and a point to prove, it was the kind of offer that turns heads.

He said no.

The Frenchman is reported to have turned down that astronomical deal in favour of what he considers a genuine sporting project, one where he can compete at a higher level and rebuild his reputation on the pitch rather than in the balance sheet.
