Araujo Joins Reds as Preparations for Como Begin
Ronald Araujo wasted no time getting to work. The defender, who completed his loan move from FC Barcelona on Monday, was straight into Andoni Iraola’s demanding midweek session as the Reds sharpened up for their friendly double-header against Como 1907.
The Uruguay international joined in with the main group, immediately exposed to Iraola’s trademark tempo: tight, rapid-fire rondos and high-intensity team drills that left little room for easing in.
Alexis Mac Allister was also involved after starting his pre-season programme earlier this week, adding a touch of control and composure in the middle of the park as the squad’s core begins to reform.
There was more good news on the fitness front. Jeremy Jacquet and Curtis Jones, both absent from last weekend’s clash with AS Monaco, returned to full training and took part throughout the session, offering Iraola extra options ahead of the Como tests.
With new faces bedding in, key players returning, and the work rate cranked up, Iraola’s group looks intent on hitting stride before the real campaign begins.
