Arsenal Considers £38m Bid for Gabriel Martinelli from Galatasaray

Arsenal have a major call to make on Gabriel Martinelli after Galatasaray tested their resolve with a £38million offer for the winger.

The Brazilian has just one year left on his current deal in north London, though the club hold an option to extend that by a further 12 months. That clause gives Arsenal some protection, but not unlimited time. Decisions now carry weight.

Inside the club, Martinelli is viewed as a player they would consider selling for the right price this summer. Galatasaray have now forced the issue, lodging a formal bid and pushing to make the 25-year-old a headline arrival.

Whether Martinelli actually wants the move is another matter. It is not thought he is agitating to leave, and his preference is understood to be to stay in one of Europe’s top leagues rather than head to Turkey at this stage of his career.

Arsenal’s wider transfer picture complicates everything. They remain in the market for a new left winger, and the focus is expected to shift more heavily towards outgoings in the final weeks of the window. The club hope to find buyers for Gabriel Jesus, Reiss Nelson and Fabio Vieira, and those potential exits will shape what comes next.

If those deals materialise and other targets fall into place, the door to more high-profile departures is not closed. Martinelli sits right in that bracket.

Mikel Arteta wants another dimension on the left flank. That search would have to accelerate if Arsenal cash in on Martinelli, turning a long-term idea into an urgent priority.

Christos Tzolis has already arrived from Club Brugge in a £34m deal and caught the eye in pre-season. His signing, though, was made with Leandro Trossard’s departure in mind, after the Belgian joined Besiktas for £15.3m. Tzolis was always planned as part of a wider rebuild, not the marquee wide forward to lead the line on his own.

Martinelli has been at Arsenal for seven years, long enough to become a familiar face but not quite a guaranteed starter. He has never fully nailed down the role of first-choice winger.
