Arsenal Monitoring Bradley Barcola Transfer Stalemate with Liverpool and PSG

Arsenal are circling the Bradley Barcola situation, quietly tracking a transfer that has started to drag while Liverpool and Paris Saint-Germain remain miles apart on price.

The original line from Caught Offside was clear enough: this is a deal that has lost momentum. Barcola is a leading attacking target, but talks between Liverpool and PSG have drifted without any real breakthrough.

Price stand-off blocks progress

Everything comes back to valuation.

PSG are standing firm. They want £130m up front, with add-ons potentially pushing the total to around £145m. Liverpool’s stance is very different: they rate Barcola at no more than £120m.

That gap is not a minor detail. At this stage of a long-running negotiation, it’s a major obstacle.

One source summed it up bluntly: “Liverpool and PSG still have no agreement on Barcola, there's a significant gap in valuation.”

Liverpool like the France international a lot and have him high on their attacking shortlist. Admiration, though, is one thing. Writing a cheque at PSG’s numbers is something else entirely.

With no sign of PSG easing their demands, Liverpool are already weighing up alternatives. That’s usually the next step when a selling club refuses to budge on both price and leverage.

Arsenal in the background – but not gone

Arsenal, for now, are not charging in with a formal bid. They’re doing something more subtle: staying informed.

That matters. Being kept in the loop can turn into something more aggressive very quickly if a rival deal starts to creak, and there is a growing sense this one might be heading that way.

One line around the Emirates is particularly striking: “Arsenal haven't completely gone away, and could aggressively enter the conversation again if it becomes clear this deal is really stalling.”

The suggestion is that this is genuine interest, not just tactical noise to disrupt Liverpool.

Barcola is understood to be open to Liverpool and “personal terms shouldn't be an issue”. The same report notes he “could also be open to Arsenal”, with London flagged as a potential pull for the 23-year-old.

Same price problem, different club

Any Arsenal move would run into the same wall Liverpool are facing: PSG’s asking price.

That’s why this saga sits in the “delicately poised” category rather than anything close to advanced. Arsenal have already explored big attacking options this summer, and names like Julian Alvarez and Kenan Yildiz remain part of the wider conversation around their forward planning.

For now, Barcola is one to watch rather than one on the brink. Liverpool could yet return with improved terms. Arsenal might sense a gap and drive into it. Or PSG might simply refuse to blink and wait for the market to catch up with their valuation.

From Arsenal’s perspective, it is still a situation worth tracking to the final days. Barcola fits the profile: young, dynamic, technically sharp, already operating at the top level. If Liverpool walk away because the numbers become too heavy, Arsenal will want to be ready.

There is a risk, of course. Committing £130m to £145m to a player who is not yet a guaranteed transformative signing is a huge call for any club trying to keep balance across the squad as well as chase elite quality. If PSG stay rigid, a pivot to another top attacker would be easy to justify.

Yet the encouragement for Arsenal fans is obvious. Barcola’s openness to Arsenal, and the lure of London, gives the Gunners a platform if the door opens. A top-class talent, a rival deal under strain, and a club quietly in position – is this the kind of opportunity that ends up defining a window?
