Arsenal Secures Teenage Forward Vincent Joseph from Liverpool

Arsenal have moved ahead of their rivals to land highly rated teenage forward Vincent Joseph from Liverpool, with talks now focused on how much compensation the Merseyside club will receive.

The 16-year-old, a sharp, inventive striker who can also drop into the No 10 role, has been a prolific presence in Liverpool’s youth system. Anfield-based reports describe him as having “scored freely” for the Reds’ academy sides, and his numbers back that up.

Joseph stepped up to Liverpool’s U18s last season and barely blinked. Three goals in his first two appearances at that level underlined why he has been fast-tracked through the age groups. On the international stage, he has eight goals in nine games for England U16s and is also eligible to represent Germany, giving him a potentially intriguing decision to make further down the line.

Manchester United explored a surprise move for the youngster in March, but it is Arsenal who have won the race. According to The Athletic, Joseph allowed his schoolboy terms at Liverpool to run down and opted against signing a scholarship deal, opening the door for Mikel Arteta’s side to pounce.

Arsenal are understood to have reached an agreement with Joseph, and the two clubs are now discussing a compensation package. If they cannot agree a figure, the case will go to a tribunal, as required when a player under 24 switches clubs before signing a first professional contract or at the end of one.

Any decision from the Professional Football Compensation Committee will weigh several factors: Joseph’s age, his playing record, how long he spent in Liverpool’s system, the stature of both clubs and the financial terms put on the table by each side.

Inside Arsenal, there is a quiet belief they may have secured a future gem. Joseph has previously drawn comparisons with Jamal Musiala for his ability to glide between the lines and affect games both as a scorer and creator.

Arteta’s rebuild up front does not stop with youth, though. While Joseph is one for the future, Arsenal are also pushing hard for an elite No 9 to lead the line now.

The London club remain in contact over Julian Alvarez, with the Argentine viewed as an ideal fit to compete with or complement a marquee centre-forward option such as Viktor Gyokeres. Alvarez, however, is understood to favour a move to Barcelona, which complicates any Premier League pursuit.

As that situation simmers, another heavyweight name sits firmly on Arsenal’s radar.

The Telegraph report that Arsenal and Galatasaray discussed Victor Osimhen during conversations involving Gabriel Martinelli and Ethan Nwaneri. Separate sources indicate Arsenal, Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester United have all held internal talks on whether to move for the Nigeria striker, amid growing suggestions his asking price has dropped significantly from the £100m mark.

United have since cooled their interest, leaving Arsenal and Spurs better placed if a formal bid is launched. Any deal would still be expensive. Osimhen’s fee remains substantial and his wage demands to join the Premier League are high, even with Galatasaray now more open to negotiating his exit at a slightly reduced figure.

Arsenal are also described as the club showing the strongest interest in a Barcelona player, underlining just how aggressive their attacking reset could become.
