Arsenal Launch Talks with Galatasaray Over Victor Osimhen Transfer

Arsenal have initiated discussions with Galatasaray concerning a potential transfer of Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen, who could finally make his Premier League debut. The talks also involve other players moving between the clubs, including Gabriel Martinelli and Ethan Nwaneri possibly heading to Turkey.

Osimhen Becomes Arsenal's New Target

The 27-year-old forward, who moved permanently to Galatasaray last summer for €75 million (£64.8m) after a protracted transfer saga from Napoli, is now being considered by the north London side. Arsenal's initial focus was on Julian Alvarez, but Atletico Madrid's refusal to sell forced the Gunners to look elsewhere, with Osimhen emerging as an alternative option, according to The Telegraph.

Multi-Player Talks Between Arsenal and Galatasaray

Discussions reportedly cover several transfers. Galatasaray have already made a €45 million (£38.4m) offer for Brazilian winger Gabriel Martinelli, though the player is reluctant to move to the Turkish league, as reported by ESPN Brasil. Additionally, Arsenal are negotiating the sale of 19-year-old talent Ethan Nwaneri for around €40 million (£34.1m). The Turkish club is pursuing a deal for the former Marseille loanee.

John Obi Mikel Backs Osimhen's Move to Arsenal

Chelsea legend John Obi Mikel has publicly supported Osimhen’s desire to compete at the highest European level. Speaking to Metro, he said: "I think we want to see him in the Champions League so maybe Arsenal might be the destination. Maybe there is a door open there for Victor." He added, "He is working to make sure he ends up at a top, top European league where he can showcase his talent and compete to win the Champions League." Mikel was involved in Chelsea’s unsuccessful attempt to sign Osimhen in 2024.

Arsenal's Shift in Transfer Approach

Arsenal’s renewed interest in Osimhen signals a strategic change. The club passed on signing him in 2024 due to Napoli’s high asking price then. Manager Mikel Arteta is keen to secure a dependable goal scorer, and while Osimhen has thrived leading Galatasaray’s attack, the appeal of the Premier League remains strong for the striker.
