Barcelona Completes Anthony Gordon Registration for La Liga

Barcelona’s summer rebuild has another key piece in place. Anthony Gordon is officially cleared to wear the Blaugrana shirt in La Liga.

After ticking off the registrations of Rodri and Karim Adeyemi, Barça have now pushed Gordon’s paperwork over the line, confirming the England winger in time for Sunday night’s league opener away to Elche at Estadio Manuel Martinez Valero.

It caps a rapid turnaround for a player signed from Newcastle United in a deal worth €70 million plus add-ons. No late-night drama, no deadline-day tension. Just a straightforward registration, completed days before a ball is kicked in the new campaign.

Gordon becomes the third major summer arrival to be enrolled, leaving only Joao Cancelo still waiting on the green light. The Portuguese international’s move was confirmed on Thursday, and the clock is now ticking to see whether the La Liga champions can also have him registered before they walk out in Elche.

The contrast with recent summers is striking. Barcelona previously lived on the edge of the salary cap, racing to shift contracts and restructure deals just to squeeze in new signings. This time, the club are operating again under the 1:1 Fair Play rule, and the difference shows in the calm, orderly procession of registrations.

Three signings done, one to go, and a league opener looming. For Gordon and the rest of Barça’s new faces, the stage is set for an official debut weekend that will say plenty about where this reshaped squad is headed.
