Barnsley Strengthen Defense with Connor O'Riordan Loan
Barnsley have moved to strengthen their back line with the season-long loan signing of Blackburn Rovers defender Connor O'Riordan, securing an option to make the deal permanent next summer.
The 22-year-old centre-back, capped by Republic of Ireland at Under-21 level, knows League One well. He spent the first half of last season on loan at Doncaster, gaining valuable minutes and experience in the division before returning to Ewood Park in January.
Back at Blackburn, O'Riordan broke into the first-team picture and went on to make six appearances in all competitions for the Championship club in the second half of the campaign.
Now he heads to Oakwell with the chance of a longer stay built into the agreement, a clear sign Barnsley see him as more than just a short-term fix.
He could make his Tykes debut as soon as Saturday, when Barnsley travel to Leyton Orient – an early test of how quickly he can settle into new surroundings.
