Bayern Munich Ready to Make Michael Olise Their Highest-Paid Player

Bayern Munich are ready to put their money where their mouth is on Michael Olise.

The German champions want to extend the French winger’s contract and are prepared to make him the highest-paid player at the club, according to French outlet L’Équipe. That’s despite his current deal already running until 2029.

This isn’t a routine renewal. It’s a statement.

Bayern’s new cornerstone

Olise, 24, has been one of Bayern’s standout performers since arriving from Crystal Palace in the summer of 2024. In a squad full of established stars, he has forced his way to the centre of the project, his form and influence convincing the hierarchy that he is a player to build around for years.

Inside the club, the view is clear: Olise is a pillar of the next Bayern era, and they are ready to dig deep to keep him in Munich.

L’Équipe report that Bayern want to reward him with a new contract that would place him above even Harry Kane and Jamal Musiala in the wage structure. As of April 2026, both Kane and Musiala were earning around 2.1 million euros per month, the joint-highest salaries at the club.

Bayern are determined to keep him in the Bundesliga for at least another season, and the environment in Munich is working in their favour. L’Équipe note that Olise feels he has found the ideal place to grow, both on and off the pitch.

A key part of that is his relationship with coach Vincent Kompany. The Belgian has handed Olise responsibility, freedom and trust, and the winger has responded by taking his game “to another level”, as described in the French report. For a player at 24, that bond with the coach and the promise of a central role matters almost as much as the numbers on the contract.

A new deal, a new clause

There is one major change on the table. While Olise’s current contract reportedly does not contain a release clause, any extension is expected to include one.

That would give Bayern financial protection and the player a clear pathway if a superclub does eventually come calling. For now, though, the intention in Munich is obvious: lock down their electric French winger, pay him like a franchise player, and let the project grow around him.
