Bayern Munich 3–1 Leipzig: Diaz and Saibari Shine

Bayern Munich’s pre-season stepped up a gear at the Allianz Arena as they saw off RB Leipzig 3–1, a scoreline that only hints at how sharp the Bavarians already look heading into the new campaign.

The home side needed just 14 minutes to show their edge. Luis Diaz, the Colombian forward brought in to add flair and cutting edge, delivered. He broke the deadlock with the kind of clinical finish Bayern expect from their front line, and from there the hosts controlled the tempo, carrying that narrow 1–0 lead into half-time without ever looking frantic.

Leipzig, though, refused to play the supporting role. They came out after the break with more bite and were rewarded in the 52nd minute when Bryan Gruda dragged them level, punishing a lapse and reminding Bayern that this was no gentle warm-up.

The response was ruthless. Five minutes later, Nathaniel Brown restored Bayern’s advantage, darting onto a precise ball from Aleksandar Pavlovic and making no mistake. One pass, one run, one finish – and the Allianz was roaring again.

Then came the first glimpse of Bayern’s latest attacking option.

On 71 minutes, Moroccan international Ismael Saibari stepped off the bench for his debut, replacing Tom Bischof after his summer move from Eindhoven. It did not take him long to justify the excitement. Barely 10 minutes into his Bayern career, Saibari carved open Leipzig’s defence and laid the ball on a plate for fellow substitute Jamal Musiala, who swept in the third to cap a slick move and underline the hosts’ superiority.

Musiala’s impact was electric but brief. Late in the game, the playmaker fainted and had to leave the field in the 86th minute, bringing a sudden hush to the stadium. Young Senegalese player Bara Ndiaye came on in his place, handed unexpected minutes on a night that had seemed routine until that point.

By the final whistle, Bayern had their 3–1 win, goals from Diaz, Brown and Musiala, and a debut assist from Saibari in the bank. More importantly, they had another step of rhythm and cohesion ahead of a demanding start.
