Bayern Munich Pursues Manchester United Prodigy JJ Gabriel

Bayern Munich are pushing to the front of the queue for Manchester United prodigy JJ Gabriel, with the teenager understood to have told the club he wants out and is not expected to pull on their shirt again.

The 15-year-old forward has become the latest battleground for Europe’s elite. According to reports in The Sun and the Manchester Evening News, talks have been opened between Gabriel’s camp and both Bayern Munich and Real Madrid as he looks for a fresh start away from Old Trafford.

At the heart of the developing tug-of-war is super-agent Ali Barat. Though players cannot be formally represented by an agent until they turn 16, Barat and his agency, Epic Sports, are heavily involved behind the scenes and are viewed as favourites to secure Gabriel’s signature when he becomes eligible. Their role in drawing Bayern and Madrid to the table has only intensified the sense that Gabriel is already operating in a different orbit to most players his age.

Bayern have not exactly hidden their admiration. Sporting director Christoph Freund was asked about Gabriel at a press conference last week and, while he refused to cross the usual lines on discussing another club’s player, his words left little doubt about how highly the youngster is rated in Munich.

"I don't talk about players who are under contract with other clubs. We know the player because he's very talented. He's an exceptional talent. I can't say anything more about that," Freund said.

The message was clear enough. Bayern know who he is. They like what they see. And they are not alone.

For United, the prospect of losing one of the brightest prospects in their academy before he has even signed professional terms is a stark reminder of the modern market. For Gabriel, the decision now is brutal and simple: stay and fight for a pathway at Old Trafford, or jump early to a European giant already rolling out the red carpet.
