Brenden Aaronson Signs New Three-Year Deal with Leeds United
Leeds United have tied down another pillar of Daniel Farke’s side, with Brenden Aaronson signing a new three-year contract extension as he entered the final 12 months of his previous deal.
The 25-year-old becomes the third key figure to commit his long-term future to Elland Road this week, following fresh agreements for Joe Rodon and Jayden Bogle. Bit by bit, the spine of Farke’s Leeds is being nailed into place.
This isn’t a sentimental reward. It’s the product of a quietly outstanding season.
Under Farke, Aaronson delivered the most consistent campaign of his Leeds career, helping secure Premier League stability last term. His energy out of possession and sharper decision-making in the final third turned him from a promising project into a trusted constant in West Yorkshire.
The United States international made it clear there was never any real drama behind the scenes. Contract talks moved smoothly, driven by his own determination to stay put and remain central to the club’s long-term plans.
Speaking to the club’s official website, Aaronson said: “It's a dream come true being at this club and being a part of this project. It's so ambitious. It's a beautiful club and I love being here. There was no doubt in my mind. I think it was easy for me to make this decision, and I am so excited about what the future has in store."
The numbers back up his importance. Aaronson has racked up 129 appearances for Leeds, scoring 14 goals and supplying 10 assists, with his only spell away coming on loan at Union Berlin in 2023-24. Last season he featured 42 times across all competitions, finishing with four goals and five assists.
Creatively, he sat near the top of Farke’s charts. Only Anton Stach, with 66, carved out more chances than Aaronson’s 37, underlining how often he sparked Leeds’ attacks in tight games.
His renewal extends what has already been a purposeful transfer window for the Whites. Harry Wilson, Nico Elvedi, Tarik Muharemovic, and James Trafford have all arrived to deepen and sharpen the squad. Keeping Aaronson, Rodon, and Bogle on long-term deals gives that recruitment a clear framework: evolution around a settled core, not another reset.
The timing is no accident. Leeds open their 2026-27 Premier League campaign on Saturday with a trip to the City Ground to face Nottingham Forest, a ground that has been anything but welcoming. They have gone 14 top-flight visits there without a win, a run that hangs over every journey down the M1.
Yet Leeds usually come out swinging on opening day. They have lost only two of their last 18 top-flight season openers, a record that speaks to a club that rarely tiptoes into a new campaign.
With Aaronson now locked in and the squad taking shape, Leeds head to Nottingham with continuity, clarity and a midfielder who has just nailed his colours to the Elland Road mast. Now comes the real question: can this rebuilt core turn stability into something more?
