Brentford Strike Deal for El Hadji Malick Diouf

Brentford have struck a verbal agreement with West Ham to sign El Hadji Malick Diouf in a deal that could rise to £40m, as the Bees move aggressively to strengthen a squad already pushing at the Premier League’s upper reaches.

The 21-year-old Senegal international is set to cost an initial £35m, with a further £5m tied to performance-related add-ons. West Ham have accepted the offer and Diouf has been given the green light to undergo a medical.

Brentford land their top defensive target

Diouf has been Brentford’s priority defensive target throughout this window. Talks had stalled earlier in the summer, but were revived this week and accelerated quickly once it became clear West Ham were ready to cash in.

Diouf’s reputation has surged beyond club level too. After breaking into the Senegal national team last year, he featured four times at the World Cup this summer, adding major-tournament experience to his résumé at just 21.
