Brian Sorensen Joins Republic of Ireland Women's Camp for World Cup Play-Offs

Brian Sorensen is set for a swift return to the international stage, with the former Everton manager poised to join the Republic of Ireland women’s camp for their World Cup play-off push later this year.

The Dane is expected to be appointed assistant coach, stepping into a key role alongside Liverpool coach Amber Whiteley as Ireland gear up for a high-stakes qualifying campaign.

Crucially, Sorensen will not be leaving club football. He is understood to be retaining his position as technical director with Aston Villa Women, linking up with the Republic of Ireland only during international windows. It’s a dual role that underlines his stock in the women’s game – and Ireland’s determination to add proven WSL experience to their backroom team.

There is already a familiar face waiting for him in camp. Sorensen will work under manager Carla Ward, who previously went head-to-head with his Everton side during her spell in charge of Villa in the Women’s Super League.
