Chelsea's Pursuit of Manu Koné Continues

Chelsea’s chase for Manu Koné is not over. The window is shut, the squads are set on paper, but the French midfielder’s name refuses to leave the market conversation.

He was one of the protagonists of deadline day. Chelsea pushed hard, opening talks with Roma in a late attempt to drag him to London and into the Premier League. The outlines of a deal began to form. Then one man stopped it.

The Roma coach drew a clear line: Koné was not leaving. For Gasperini, the 23-year-old is too important, too central to his plans to be sacrificed even for a major fee. His firm veto helped kill the move before it could reach the final stage.

So Koné stayed in Rome. Chelsea moved on to other solutions. On the surface, the story looked finished.

It isn’t.

Sport.FR in France reports that Chelsea’s interest remains very much alive and that the club is already considering a renewed push in the winter window. The London side may have missed their chance in August, but they have not cooled on the player.

For now, Koné continues as a Roma midfielder, protected by a coach who clearly sees him as a cornerstone. January, though, brings a new market, new pressure, and possibly a fresh bid landing at Trigoria.
