Chelsea to Sell Marc Guiu to RB Leipzig

Chelsea have agreed to sell striker Marc Guiu to RB Leipzig, clearing the way for the Spain Under-21 forward to leave Stamford Bridge after just one full season.

The 20-year-old is expected to complete a permanent move to the Bundesliga club, though sources in Germany insist the final details of the deal still need to be ironed out before it can be signed off.

Guiu has been valued at around £25m — a sharp rise on the fee of about £5m they paid Barcelona in 2024 to prise him away from his boyhood side.

A year on, his Chelsea chapter is already closing.

Guiu made 29 appearances for the club and scored eight goals, six of them coming in the run that ended with Chelsea lifting the Conference League in 2024-25. That European campaign briefly hinted at a long-term future in west London, the young striker popping up with important contributions as Chelsea chased silverware on multiple fronts.

His domestic opportunities, though, never truly opened up.

A short loan spell at Sunderland last season brought only three matches and no real momentum. By the time Chelsea’s squad reconvened this summer, the writing was on the wall: Guiu trained away from the main first-team group, with expectations growing inside the club that a permanent exit was coming.

Leipzig, with their track record of polishing young attacking talent, have stepped in to take the gamble.

Chelsea, meanwhile, continue to shuffle their wider squad.

Midfielder Kendry Paez has been recalled from an unsuccessful loan at River Plate, a move designed to free up an overseas loan slot. The Ecuadorian teenager is now set for another temporary switch, potentially within England, as Chelsea try to find the right environment for his development.
