Coventry Pursues Former Man Utd Talent, Crystal Palace Offers £42.9m for Monaco Midfielder

Coventry City have reportedly made an approach to sign Angel Gomes, the former Manchester United and Wolverhampton Wanderers player. The 25-year-old recently returned to his parent club Marseille after a goal- and assist-less spell during 13 appearances for Wolves across all competitions.

Gomes started seven Premier League matches for Wolves but couldn't stop their relegation, leading them to decline their £6m purchase option. According to L'Equipe via SportWitness, Coventry have inquired about acquiring Gomes despite his two-year contract with Marseille. The Ligue 1 side is open to letting him leave if a suitable bid arrives.

Since joining Marseille on a free transfer from Lille last summer, Gomes has netted four goals in 20 games.

Newcastle's Joe Willock Transfer Roadblock

Newcastle United are reportedly making it difficult for Joe Willock to exit the club. With just one year left on his contract, the former Arsenal academy player’s future remains uncertain. After losing Bruno Guimaraes and Sandro Tonali this summer, Newcastle might consider offers for Willock to avoid losing him for free in 2027.

According to Turkish source Sabah (via SportWitness), Newcastle want £19.7m for the midfielder, but potential buyer Besiktas is only willing to pay up to £11.2m. Besiktas has capped their offer at £12.9m, leaving negotiations at a standstill. Willock has contributed 19 goals and 11 assists in 182 appearances for the Magpies, who are also eyeing Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg from Marseille to boost their midfield.

West Ham's Niclas Fullkrug Deal Hits Snag

Niclas Fullkrug seems stuck after a disappointing loan at AC Milan, where he scored just once in 20 outings. Following West Ham’s relegation, the 33-year-old striker isn’t expected to play a major role and missed the recent EFL Cup match against Portsmouth.

Though he reportedly agreed terms with Italian side Venezia, German outlet SportBild claims West Ham’s asking price has blocked the move. The transfer now appears dead, leaving Fullkrug training alone while searching for a new club. Since joining West Ham from Borussia Dortmund for £27m in 2024, he has managed just three goals in 29 matches.

Crystal Palace Advances in Race for Lamine Camara

In London, Crystal Palace have placed a firm offer for Monaco’s 22-year-old midfielder Lamine Camara, competing with Nottingham Forest for his signature. Previously linked to Manchester United and Liverpool, neither of those clubs has made a concrete move. Man Utd strengthened their midfield with Youri Tielemans and Andrey Santos, while Liverpool focuses on Paris Saint-Germain’s Bradley Barcola.

FootMercato reports Palace’s proposal is serious, though Monaco values Camara at £42.9m (€50m). The Senegal international is under contract until 2029, but Monaco faces pressure to sell following the recent transfer of Maghnes Akliouche to PSG. Negotiations are expected to be long and challenging.
