Crystal Palace Signs Axel Disasi on Loan for 2026-27 Season
Crystal Palace have added significant muscle to their back line, confirming the loan signing of defender Axel Disasi from Chelsea for the 2026-27 season.
The 28-year-old centre-back, who arrived at Stamford Bridge in 2023, has already taken a tour of the Premier League, spending spells on loan at Aston Villa and West Ham. Across those three clubs he has clocked up 58 Premier League appearances, and his pedigree stretches to the international stage with five senior caps for France.
Now he lands in south London at a club he already knows is a brutal assignment for visiting defenders.
"I'm very happy," Disasi said after the deal was announced. "The club has been going in a very good direction, so I think it was the right place for me to keep going. I know that it's very tough to play against Palace at Selhurst Park - so I'm looking forward to being on the other side now."
For new manager Pierre Sage, this is another key piece in an aggressive summer rebuild. Disasi becomes Palace’s seventh signing of the window as Sage reshapes the squad in his image, adding experience and physical presence to a defence that will be tested week after week.
Chairman Steve Parish underlined the significance of the move.
"We are pleased [to] welcome a defender of Axel's experience and calibre to Palace for the season. I look forward to seeing him in action at Selhurst Park," he said.
The deal answers one big question about Palace’s defensive depth. It immediately poses another: with Disasi through the door and the season fast approaching, where should the club turn next before the window slams shut?
