Curtis Jones Joins Inter Milan in English Revolution
Curtis Jones has drawn a bold line under a lifetime at Liverpool, sealing a move to Inter Milan and becoming the third Englishman in three weeks to join the Italian champions.
The 25-year-old midfielder has signed a contract at San Siro running until 2031, completing a striking Premier League-flavoured rebuild that has already brought in right-back Djed Spence and centre-back John Stones.
Transfer fee: 35 million euros ($40.8 million)
Inter, announcing the deal, underlined the scale of the change for a player who has only ever known one club.
“After a lifetime with Liverpool, the midfielder leaves his home country for the first time, joining fellow England internationals John Stones and Djed Spence and becoming the sixth Englishman in Inter's history,” the club said. “The time has come for a new, incredible adventure — one he can approach with the confidence that has accompanied him throughout his life.”
For Jones, this is not just a move. It is a farewell to an identity.
“After 16 years, it's time to say goodbye,” he wrote on Instagram, confirming his exit from Anfield. “I came here as a kid with a dream of playing for Liverpool and I've been lucky enough to actually live that dream. Liverpool will be a massive part of me.”
He leaves behind a club where he progressed from local prospect to first-team regular, but walks into an Inter side that has thrown its doors wide open to English talent.
Spence, also tied down until 2031, offers thrust on the right flank, while Stones arrives on a free after his contract at Manchester City expired, bringing experience and composure to the heart of the defence. Both, like Jones, are England internationals, turning Inter’s dressing room into an unlikely enclave of the Three Lions.
The shift is striking when set against the club’s long history. Across 118 years, only three English players had ever appeared for Inter before 2024. That number has doubled in a matter of weeks.
Looking Ahead
Inter begin their Serie A title defence at home to Monza on Saturday. The champions already had momentum. Now they have a new English core, and a Liverpool-bred midfielder ready to test himself far from the Kop.
