Djed Spence Set for Serie A Move to Inter Milan

Djed Spence is on the brink of a new life in Serie A, with the England international due in Italy tonight ahead of a move to Inter worth up to €35m from Tottenham Hotspur.

After days of hard bargaining, the two clubs finally reached an agreement this week: a fixed fee of €31.5m, plus bonuses that push the overall value to €35m. Tucked into the deal is another sweetener for Spurs – a 10 per cent cut of any future sale, included within the bonus structure.

For Spence, the next 24 hours will be a blur. According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, the defender has already packed his bags and is expected to land in Milan this evening, ready to wake up tomorrow as Inter’s next signing in all but name.

He will spend the night in a hotel, then face a two-step medical on Friday. First come the routine tests with Inter’s own staff. Then the more formal checks with specialists from CONI, the Italian Olympic Committee, a standard but crucial hurdle for any major arrival in Serie A.

Only once those boxes are ticked can the paperwork catch up with the reality. Waiting for him is a five-year contract, believed to be worth €2.6m per season plus performance-related bonuses – a long-term bet from Inter on a player whose ceiling they clearly rate very highly.

There is already a hint of symbolism in the move. It has been suggested Spence has picked the Number 24 shirt, once worn at Inter by another former Tottenham player, Christian Eriksen. A different position, a different story, but the same path from North London to the Nerazzurri.

Tonight, it is just a flight and a hotel room. By tomorrow, it could be the start of a defining chapter in Spence’s career.
