Endrick Poised for Premier League Loan to Rekindle Career

Real Madrid forward Endrick seems set for another loan spell this season, with Aston Villa, fresh off their Europa League win, leading the chase for his signature. The 20-year-old Brazilian has struggled to secure regular minutes since his arrival at Madrid in the summer of 2024, despite being one of South America’s most promising talents.

He found it tough to break into the first team under both Carlo Ancelotti and Xabi Alonso. Midway through the 2025–26 season, he was loaned to Lyon, where he impressed by netting eight goals and providing eight assists over 21 games. This strong performance earned him a spot in Ancelotti’s Brazil squad for the 2026 World Cup.

After the tournament, Endrick returned early to Real Madrid's preseason, hoping to impress new coach José Mourinho. Yet, his short-term future appears away from the Spanish capital. The club has brought in extra competition, including backup striker Carlos Espí and winger Yan Diomande, making it even harder for Endrick to find playing time in either his preferred striker role or wider positions.

Mourinho hinted at a lean squad policy, saying, "I want a small squad, 20 players plus those who are currently injured," signaling that players like Endrick might be moved before the September 1 transfer deadline.

Loan Interest from Across Europe

Interest in Endrick is coming from several countries. According to AS, both Aston Villa and Serie A’s AS Roma have expressed interest in taking him on loan following his strong showings in France last season. Real Madrid still consider Endrick a valuable asset and want to protect their investment, unwilling to let his value drop.

To facilitate a loan deal, Los Blancos are reportedly ready to cover part of his salary, which is more than €5 million (around $5.75 million) annually. SPORT has named Aston Villa as the "most probable" destination. Other La Liga teams like Real Sociedad, Villarreal, and Real Betis have also reportedly made inquiries, while Endrick himself is keen on playing in European competitions.

What Could Endrick Bring to Aston Villa?

At only 20 years old, Endrick has already been under three different managers at Real Madrid. Once hailed as a prodigy comparable to Vinícius Júnior, Karim Benzema, and even Pelé, his status has dipped since his nearly €60 million ($69 million) transfer. Yet, his loan at Lyon proved there is still considerable talent waiting to emerge.

Endrick's explosive speed, low center of gravity, and clinical finishing set him apart from other young forwards during his early days at Palmeiras, which convinced Madrid to pay a high fee. The step up to a club as massive as Real Madrid has been challenging, but that does not mean he has failed.

The stint in France showed an energetic, aggressive forward who can operate both centrally and from the right wing. Former French star Emmanuel Petit voiced support for Endrick joining Arsenal, describing him as "a wild horse with a lot of energy" and "a diamond" who needs the right environment to grow.

“He’s very talented, very gifted, but sometimes a bit too selfish on the field. Still, he knows he has huge qualities,” Petit said. “Given his qualities, I’d love him to come to Arsenal.”
