Ethan Nwaneri's Future at Arsenal: Transfer Speculations
Ethan Nwaneri is edging towards the exit at Arsenal before the close of the summer transfer window, according to Fabrizio Romano, as one of the club’s brightest academy products weighs up his next step.
The 19-year-old, long regarded as a jewel of Hale End, has drawn serious interest from the Bundesliga. Borussia Dortmund and RB Leipzig have both been linked with the midfielder, while AC Milan are also understood to be keeping a close eye on his situation.
On Sunday, the picture became a little clearer. Arsenal swept aside Manchester City 3-0 to lift the Community Shield, but Nwaneri was nowhere to be seen – completely omitted from the matchday squad. For a player tipped for a breakthrough, that was a loud omission.
“I want him to be at the club, but in the middle, long term, what is best for the player? Ethan needs to play football, and if he stays here, it's because we can guarantee that he can have those minutes. Otherwise, it's just something that is not good for anybody, I think,” Arteta said.
It was an honest assessment and a revealing one. Arsenal want to keep him. Europe’s elite are circling. The player needs games.
The clock on the window is ticking. The next move Nwaneri makes could define the trajectory of his career.
