European Clubs Gear Up for Summer Transfer Market

The World Cup is crawling towards its finale, but Europe’s heavyweights are already sprinting into the summer market. The window is open, the chequebooks are out, and some of the continent’s biggest names are being shuffled like high‑stakes poker chips.

At Arsenal, Manchester United, Chelsea, Liverpool and Tottenham, this isn’t a tweak-and-tidy summer. It’s a reset.

Arsenal load up for life after Trossard

Arsenal have wasted no time responding to Leandro Trossard’s departure.

A deal is already in place for Christos Tzolis, and the Gunners are now preparing a bid for Morgan Rogers as they try to refresh Mikel Arteta’s attacking options. The plan is clear: younger legs, higher ceilings, more versatility across the front line.

But the ambition stretches well beyond that. Bruno Guimaraes remains a major midfield target, Julian Alvarez is still admired as a potential game-changing addition in attack, and wonderkid Andria Bartishvili is firmly on the radar as part of a longer-term rebuild.

Bradley Barcola and Ezri Konsa are also being monitored. Barcola would add another wide threat; Konsa would give Arsenal proven Premier League steel at the back. It’s an aggressive shopping list, and it signals a club intent on closing the final gap to the very top.

Manchester United rip up their midfield script

At Old Trafford, the midfield overhaul has turned into a full‑scale reconstruction.

Andrey Santos and Youri Tielemans have already arrived for a combined £85m, but United are not putting the pen down. France international Manu Kone has emerged as a leading target, with the club now also registering interest in Hugo Larsson and Rangers’ Nico Raskin.

Larsson, under contract at Eintracht Frankfurt until 2029, will not come cheap. United and Newcastle have both made contact with his camp, aware it will likely take a huge offer to even tempt the Bundesliga side to the table.

Raskin, fresh from a positive World Cup with Belgium’s “other” Red Devils, is a more left‑field option. Belgian outlet Voetbalkrant report that both United and Aston Villa are tracking the Rangers midfielder.

All this comes as Marcus Rashford’s £40m exit clause has now expired, removing a major uncertainty from the club’s summer calculations. Michael Carrick clearly wants a deeper, more flexible midfield unit. United are buying in bulk to get it.

Chelsea’s youth revolution rolls on

Chelsea’s talent factory shows no sign of slowing.

The club are on the brink of welcoming Brazilian left-back Denner from Corinthians, the latest teenager to be fed into the Stamford Bridge pipeline. A deal with Corinthians was struck last year, with the move timed for this summer once he turned 18.

Denner, who has been recovering from a knee injury, will travel to west London next week for a medical and to finalise the transfer, according to reports in Brazil. He is expected to sign a contract running until 2032 – a decade-long bet on his potential.

The Blues are also working on a deal for Pep Chavarria, and there is the added intrigue of a possible move for Manu Kone as well. If Enzo Fernandez does depart, Chelsea will not hesitate to go toe-to-toe with United for the French midfielder.

There is movement on the fringes of the squad too. Chelsea are prepared to let 20-year-old defender Mamadou Sarr leave on loan, with the preference being a Premier League club. Xabi Alonso will speak to the former Strasbourg captain before a final decision is made, but several options are already on the table.

Liverpool brace for a post-Salah era

Mohamed Salah is a free agent after leaving Liverpool last month, his nine-year spell on Merseyside complete. Interest has poured in from across the globe, with Saudi Arabia and the United States heavily linked.

His agent, Ramy Abbas Issa, broke the silence this morning with a pointed update: “We still do not know where Mohamed will play next season but we may know very soon. It is not our style to have discussions with clubs that Mohamed wouldn’t want to play for, just for the sake of noise.”

While the world waits on Salah’s next move, Liverpool are already trying to build what comes after him.

Under new boss Andoni Iraola, the club have made Adam Wharton their “top target” for this window, according to Football Transfers. The Crystal Palace and England midfielder is seen as a central piece of the next Liverpool midfield, a player to set the tempo for years.

On the flanks, the search to replace Salah’s output is intense. Victor Munoz has arrived from Osasuna, but the Reds have likely missed out on RB Leipzig winger Yan Diomande, who is expected to join Paris Saint-Germain. That has pushed Liverpool harder towards Bradley Barcola and Brazilian winger Rayan.

TEAMtalk report that Liverpool have already made contact with Bournemouth – Iraola’s former club – over a deal for Rayan. Barcola remains in play, especially if Diomande’s move to PSG is finalised as expected.

One crucial pillar of the new project is already secured. Dominik Szoboszlai, outstanding in the 2025/26 campaign and briefly the subject of Real Madrid interest, has agreed a huge new Liverpool contract. Fabrizio Romano reports that the deal, sealed today, runs until 2031 and elevates the Hungarian into the club’s top earners.

He had two years left on his previous contract and was briefly at the centre of speculation after sarcastically applauding fans following the FA Cup quarter-final hammering by Manchester City. That noise has now been shut down. Szoboszlai is staying to lead the next iteration of Liverpool’s midfield.

Tottenham sharpen their attack as Forest circle Bergvall

Across north London, Tottenham are quietly plotting a serious upgrade to their forward line.

Savinho, Rafael Leao and Cody Gakpo are all on their list, a trio that underlines Spurs’ determination to add more dynamism and end product in the final third. None of those deals will be simple. All of them would change the profile of Ange Postecoglou’s attack.

Behind them, Nottingham Forest are preparing a second offer for Lucas Bergvall. The young midfielder has long been admired and Forest are pushing hard to steal a march on their rivals.

Villa, Milan and a defensive merry-go-round

Aston Villa, fresh from punching their way into the Premier League’s upper tier, are refusing to stand still.

Personal terms have been agreed with Pervis Estupinan, according to Fabrizio Romano, with talks ongoing with AC Milan over a fee. Estupinan is lined up as the replacement for Lucas Digne, a clear sign of Unai Emery’s desire for a more explosive presence at left-back.
