Ferran Torres Absent from Barcelona Training as PSG Move Nears Completion

Ferran Torres was missing again from FC Barcelona training on Thursday morning. Not injured. Not rested. Simply kept away, with the club’s permission, while his future is effectively being signed off elsewhere.

For the second day running, the 26-year-old did not join Hansi Flick’s session at the Ciutat Esportiva. Barcelona have upheld the leave they granted him earlier in the week, as the forward edges towards a move to PSG that now looks like a matter of final signatures rather than negotiation.

Deal with PSG almost done

Barcelona and PSG are locked in the final stretch of talks. Multiple well-sourced reports in Spain and France line up on one point: the agreement is close.

The two clubs are working on a total package of around €55 million, including add-ons, for the Spain international. The framework is clear, the numbers are largely in place, and the last details are being ironed out between the Catalans and the French and European champions.

On the player’s side, the path is already marked. Ferran has an agreement with PSG and a defined plan from Luis Enrique, who sees exactly where and how to fit him into a squad that just lifted the Champions League. With that roadmap laid out, there was little sense in risking injury or distraction in Barcelona’s sessions.

So Torres stayed off the pitch again on Thursday, effectively in a holding pattern while the two clubs close the deal.

World Cup winners drip back into Flick’s plans

While one attacker edges towards the exit, others are filtering back in.

Of the four Barcelona players who went deep at the World Cup and returned on Wednesday for individualized work, three stepped back into full group training at the start of Thursday’s session: Pau Cubarsí, Dani Olmo and Lamine Yamal all joined their teammates under Flick’s watch.

Pedri did not. The midfielder remained in the gym, continuing a tailored program and skipping the on-pitch work as the club manages his workload with extreme care after his recent injury history.

Six in limbo as Barça trim the squad

Away from the main group, another story is developing – one of uncertainty rather than big-money transfers.

Marc Casado, Hector Fort, Jofre Torrents, Tommy Marques, Guille Fernandez and Toni Fernandez are all still training separately while their futures are discussed. They work, they wait, and they watch the first team from a distance.

Barcelona are under pressure to slim down the squad and clear space for Flick’s core group. For those six, that means living day to day in a kind of professional limbo, knowing they are not in the new coach’s immediate plans but still without a definitive destination.

Young faces stay with Flick – for now

Not every youngster is on the way out. Some remain firmly under Flick’s command, at least through the end of pre-season planning.

Reserve-team players Aron Yaakobishvili – himself close to a move to Almeria – Alvaro Cortes, Xavi Espart, Jordi Pesquer, Ebrima Tunkara, Orian Goren, Brian Farinas and forward Hamza Abdelkarim all continue to train with the first team.

They fill out the sessions, push the established stars, and stake their claim for minutes or, at the very least, a better loan. As Ferran Torres waits for Paris and the senior squad reshapes around Flick’s ideas, these academy players are trying to ensure that the next big departure isn’t the only story to come out of Barcelona’s summer.
