Ferran Torres Joins Paris Saint-Germain from Barcelona

Ferran Torres is heading to Paris.

On Saturday, Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain both made it official: the Spanish forward is leaving the Camp Nou for the Ligue 1 champions, where he will play under Luis Enrique.

The move closes Ferran’s chapter in LaLiga and opens a new one in Ligue 1. At 26, the Valencia-born attacker walks away from Barça with a year still left on his contract. The Catalan club had wanted to extend his deal, but the player’s mind was already made up. Last week, he clearly communicated to Barça’s hierarchy that his future lay in Paris, and the paperwork has now caught up with his decision.

His departure ends a spell that began in January 2022, when he arrived from City. In Barcelona colours he amassed 207 appearances, scored 65 goals and stacked up silverware: three League titles, three Super Cups and one Copa del Rey. A solid haul for a player still in his prime.

And he leaves at a high point.

Ferran, who struck for Spain in the World Cup final against Argentina, arrives at PSG with his reputation soaring. His performances for Barça in recent seasons, combined with that standout World Cup display, have pushed his market value and status to another level.

Luis Enrique’s role has been decisive. The Asturian coach pushed hard for the signing, convinced Ferran fits his attacking blueprint in Paris. Backed by that conviction, the PSG board put a powerful offer on the table, pairing big numbers with an ambitious sporting project.

Barça simply could not match the French club’s financial proposal. Once Ferran reiterated his firm wish to join PSG, the outcome felt inevitable.

Now the forward swaps the Camp Nou spotlight for the Parc des Princes glare, trading one superclub for another. The question is no longer why he left Barcelona, but how far he can go in Paris under a coach who clearly believes he can still climb higher.
