Gabriel Jesus Transfer Saga: Napoli's Pursuit Amidst Arsenal Training

Gabriel Jesus remains at the centre of one of the window’s most intriguing late stories – still Massimiliano Allegri’s first choice for Napoli, yet still an Arsenal player training on his own in north London.

Napoli are pushing to sharpen their attack in the final stretch of the summer market, with Gianluca Di Marzio reporting that the club are weighing up several options. The shortlist is there, the calls are being made. But Allegri, by all accounts, keeps coming back to one name: Gabriel Jesus.

That preference holds even as Napoli run parallel tracks on other forwards. The Italian side know time is tight and the deal is complex, but the Brazilian remains the priority target.

While the two clubs explore a possible agreement, Jesus has been working away from the main Arsenal group. Mikel Arteta addressed the situation, framing it as part of a broader squad-management puzzle rather than a simple transfer sideline.

"It's something to do with the numbers that we have in the squad at the moment and the way we're managing that kind of situation individually with all the players – they have some personal situations," Arteta said, explaining why Jesus is currently training separately.

The Arsenal manager also made it clear that communication with the forward has been open and direct.

"Yes, for sure (he's spoken to Jesus). Those conversations go both ways, but I'm very satisfied with how these conversations went because I know what is in each other's hearts.

"The words that come through in those conversations make me really happy. It's inevitable at some point you need to have certain discussions and say certain things that sometimes are tough."

Earlier in the summer, reports suggested Jesus had shown some reluctance over a move to Napoli. Whether that stance has softened is still unknown, adding another layer of uncertainty as the clock winds down.

There was a sense of momentum when Fenerbahce struck a deal to take Romelu Lukaku from Napoli. That outgoing move was seen as one of the key steps needed before the Serie A club could properly launch a push for Jesus.

The anticipated acceleration never quite came. Talks have dragged, options have been assessed, but no breakthrough yet.

For Arsenal, the stakes are clear. Jesus is out of contract next year, and this window represents their last realistic opportunity to secure a significant fee. That reality is driving their willingness to negotiate in these final days.
