Gabriel Martinelli Stays at Arsenal Amid Galatasaray Interest

Gabriel Martinelli has made his position clear. He is not leaving Arsenal for Galatasaray.

The Brazilian winger’s representatives have informed the club’s hierarchy that he has no intention of joining the Turkish champions in this transfer window, despite a sizeable bid on the table.

According to The Athletic, Galatasaray have submitted an offer worth €45 million, around £38.4 million, in an attempt to lure Martinelli away from north London. Arsenal are prepared to listen to serious offers for certain players this summer. Martinelli, though, has no interest in being part of that conversation.

Arsenal open to sales, but Martinelli stays firm

Arsenal entered this window knowing they had to move players on to keep the financial picture healthy. The trimming has already started.

Leandro Trossard has departed for Besiktas in a €20 million deal, while Christian Norgaard has joined Everton for £7 million. Those exits help, but the club still expect more outgoings before the deadline.

That context is why Martinelli’s name has inevitably surfaced as a potential sale. At 25, with a long contract and a strong track record, he represents exactly the kind of asset that could command a premium fee if Arsenal chose to cash in.

His current deal runs until 2027, with the club holding an option to extend it to 2028. No talks over a fresh renewal have started yet, but Arsenal are under no immediate pressure to decide his future. For now, the player’s stance is simple: he wants to stay.

Competition on the flanks

This summer, Arsenal have already moved to refresh their wide options. Greek winger Christos Tzolis has arrived from Club Brugge, adding another profile on the flanks. The club also explored a far more ambitious move, pushing to sign Vinicius Junior before the Brazilian committed his future to Real Madrid with a new contract.

Those moves underline a clear plan to keep evolving the attack. They also increase competition for minutes in wide areas. Even so, Martinelli’s camp are not using that as a reason to look elsewhere. The message to Arsenal is not about guarantees, it is about commitment: he wants to fight for his place at the Emirates, not start again in Istanbul.

Martinelli’s journey at Arsenal has already been a substantial one. Signed from Brazilian side Ituano in 2019, he has grown from a raw prospect into a regular in a side competing at the very top.

He has made 278 first-team appearances and scored 62 goals for the club, numbers that speak to both durability and importance. Last season he featured in 53 matches across all competitions, scoring 11 times and providing 7 assists as Arsenal lifted the Premier League title and reached the Champions League final.
