Hansi Flick Names First Competitive Barcelona XI for Season Opener

Hansi Flick has named his first competitive Barcelona XI, and it wastes no time in making a statement.

For the season opener against Elche CF, the German coach has cut against expectation, both with his squad omissions and his starting choices. Alejandro Balde, Marc Casado and Hector Fort had already been left out of the initial list, a decision that raised eyebrows before a ball was even kicked.
