Harry Kane will lead a powerful English charge for the 2026 Men’s Ballon d’Or after being named among the headline nominees alongside Jude Bellingham and Declan Rice.

The Bayern Munich striker goes into the autumn ceremony as the bookmakers’ clear favourite. The numbers explain why. Kane plundered 73 goals in 65 games for club and country, spearheading another Bundesliga title win and captaining England to World Cup bronze. If he does walk onto the London Palladium stage on 26 October, he would become the first Englishman to lift the award since Michael Owen in 2001.

Between the posts, Cape Verde’s World Cup hero Vozinha has been nominated for Men’s Goalkeeper of the Year after his standout tournament performances. He will contest the award with the likes of Arsenal’s David Raya and Emiliano Martinez, now of Chelsea.

This year’s ceremony carries extra weight. It marks the 70th anniversary of the Ballon d’Or, created by France Football and co-organised with UEFA since 2024.

For the first time, the event leaves Paris for London, a deliberate tribute to the inaugural winner, England and Blackpool great Stanley Matthews. On a night built on history, Kane and his England contemporaries now have the chance to write the next line.
