Hull City Pursues Roma Forward Robinio Vaz in Loan Deal
Hull City are pushing hard to land Roma’s 19-year-old forward Robinio Vaz, with the newly-promoted Premier League side closing on a season-long loan that carries a hefty option to buy.
Respected reporter David Ornstein of The Athletic says Hull are close to an agreement with Roma for a one-year loan worth €2 million, with an option to make the move permanent for an additional €30 million.
For a player who only arrived in Rome earlier this year, the numbers are striking. Roma paid €25 million to sign Vaz from Marseille in the winter transfer window, and a full sale to Hull at the agreed figure would deliver an immediate profit for the Serie A club.
Vaz burst onto the scene in Ligue 1 at the start of the 2025-26 campaign. The teenager scored four goals and supplied two assists in 14 league appearances for Marseille before Roma moved to snap him up midway through the season.
Game time in Italy has been harder to come by. Vaz featured 12 times in Serie A for Roma, all of them off the bench, and added just one more goal to his tally for the campaign. Even so, his blend of pace and penalty-box instincts has clearly been enough to tempt Hull into a significant financial commitment if the loan goes well.
For Roma, the proposed deal drops into a wider transfer-window narrative. Despite suggestions earlier in the summer that Financial Fair Play pressure would force them into major sales, the club have so far resisted cashing in on their headline assets. Manu Kone, Wesley and Matias Soule all remain at the Stadio Olimpico as the Serie A window ticks into its final week.
If Hull get this over the line and eventually trigger that option, they will be betting big on a teenager still learning his trade. Roma, meanwhile, would turn a quick profit and keep their core intact. Which club will look smarter in a year’s time?
